My second post for Natural Home is already live, so I thought I'd share the link. And yes, you've seen those photos before.
Gardening Rookie: Starting Containers
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to the pool. Muahahaha.

Blogging at Natural Home
Are you sick of me sending you to different sites to see what I'm up to yet? I hope not, because I'm going to do it again.
Yesterday, my first blog post over at the Natural Home magazine website went live.
I'll be blogging over there once a week now, alternating between writing about green decorating on a budget and rookie green gardening. A lot of it is going to be pretty darn familiar to you, dear readers, because you hear about some of the same stuff right here quite often. But it should be a fun adventure, so I hope you'll hop on over to the Natural Home website from time to time to see what I'm up to.
This week, I write about painting the rooms in our house with low- and no-VOC paints. There are some BIG photos of the rooms we painted on the blog, so even if you don't care a lick about what I'm saying, you can take a peek at the casa where Conservative Boy and I spend most of our time staring lovingly at one another ... or, come on, let's be realistic ... disagreeing about the silliest things.
(Conservative Boy is "my honey" in the Natural Home post, in case you're wondering—I decided people might not understand his nickname over there. Such a shame.)
Here's the link to the post. I'll send you back that way once again when the first green gardening post goes live.

A New Design
If you regularly visit the Julie Tries home page to get your updates on all things Julie, Conservative Boy, and Butter, odds are you've already noticed things have changed around here. (Unless it's early morning and you're still bleary eyed. In which case, wake up darn it! This is important stuff.)
If you read my posts by email subscription or RSS feed, however, you have no idea what I'm talking about. So I'll give you a hint:
Either way, if you're not there yet, might I suggest that you mosey on over to the home page to see what's happening? It will only take you a minute (promise!) and all you have to do is click right here.
An incredibly talented friend of mine helped add a bit of personality to Julie Tries. Maybe you like it, maybe you don't. All I know is that I think it's swell and I'm excited to finally boot that boring blog of the past to the curb.
Let me know what you think. Then come back later—I'm posting about more Georgia adventures soon!

A New Blog
When I went to write a new blog post last night, I could help but click the featured link on the Blogger home page: Gardening While Intoxicated. How can you not, with a blog name like that?
If you have any interest in gardening, I recommend that you check it out too. From what I've seen so far, you can expect lovely writing (the blogger is a magazine editor and freelance writer like me!), equally lovely (and real-life) gardening photos, and more. And no, you don't have to be drunk to enjoy it. (Although I'll admit, when I stumbled upon it I was finishing my chardonnay with dinner before heading out to check on my pots. Intoxicated? No. Inspired? Yes.

New Blogs
I love discovering new blogs—especially ones that I end up coming back to over and over again. Such is the case with the first selection on this list, which my friend Cara (thanks!) clued me into last week.
It's called Stuff White People Like and it is devoted, as I'm sure you can guess, to stuff white people like. It's absolutely hilarious—and right on—so if you have a few minutes (or a whole hour) to waste, you have to check it out.
As you may know, there are two very white people living in my house in L-town. And in case you're wondering what that entails, I've decided to give you a glimpse of our life, via Stuff White People Like. It goes a little something like this:
Julie: #82 Hating Corporations, #81 Graduate School (more on that soon, really!), #76 Bottles of Water (specifically a Sigg bottle, of course), #65 Co-Ed Sports (specifically broomball), #64 Recycling, #53 Dogs, #44 Public Radio, #40 Apple Products, #24 Wine, #15 Yoga (that's lulu in the picture!), #5 Farmers Markets. I could go on. I sure to like a lot of these things.
Conservative Boy: #86 Shorts (I'm surprised they weren't on today, with his suit coat), #56 Lawyers (although he actually doesn't care for overanalyzing things) #69 Mos Def (OK, not really ... just seeing if you were still paying attention ... his friend T-Lew would though), #39 Netflix, #35 Colbert Report (Colbert singlehandedly got Conservative Boy through studying for the bar ... seriously, he loves the guy), #30 Wrigley Field (uh, hello, he still thinks the Cubbies might actually win a World Series this year), #4 Assists (and Adam Emmenecker, who's a bit old-school like Steve Nash).
Hmm. I actually love a lot more of these things than Conservative Boy. Interesting. I must be really white.
