Decorating Eggs

We may not be kids anymore, but Kid Sister and I decided we weren't too old to decorate Easter eggs.

And so last night, while the boys watched the NBA playoffs and stood around the bar in the basement, we commandeered half of the bar for egg decorating.

I have to admit, we were a bit rusty, as neither of us had decorated eggs in years.

But we decided to get a bit creative anyway.

Our finished eggs weren't masterpieces, by any means. But they're festive enough. And it was fun.

I hope your Easter is full of fun and faith and time with friends and family. And perhaps an Easter egg hunt, too.

Scenes from the City

I am a slacker. I haven't even shared my Chicago photos with you yet, and it's been weeks since we were there. How very bad of me.

Then again, I'm pretty sure you've seen similar photos before on my previous excursions to the big city. But the views from the condo where we stayed are so gorgeous, I figure you can endure a few more snapshots.

Particularly since the weather was lovely while we were.

I didn't just stay inside taking photos the whole weekend, though. I made Conservative Hubby get up close and personal with the bean in Millennium Park. (Which, by the way, he said made him dizzy. Sissy.)

The next day, I met one of my lovely friends for coffee and another mosey around Millennium Park and down Michigan Avenue. While watching this face spit water, we are pretty sure we spotted Dwight from The Office. Like, very sure. But we played it cool. That's what we do.

(And no, that's not him in the green coat. Don't be silly.)

Of course there was a Cubs game involved, too. A very chilly Cubs game, but one with a great view. Sadly, the Cards won. But we won't dwell on that.

FIRE

Last weekend, we finally put together the lovely little fire pit we received as a wedding gift.

Just in time for Labor Day, last Saturday evening turned crisp and cool. Perfect for throwing on a sweatshirt and sitting by the fire.

And so a team of boys armed with an assortment of wood and sticks set about building said fire.

Conservative Boy took the lead on the first attempt. Let me just say this: If he ever was in Boy Scouts, he must not have stuck with it for long.

His methods were a bit unorthodox. I will not say more, as Not-So-Conservative Grandmom reads this and it's best that she not know the details. She would be horrified by C.B.'s technique and incredibly concerned for her grandson's safety.

Fortunately, the rest of the crowd took over and coaxed a few little flames into a roaring fire, perfect for roasting marshmallows and making s'mores.

It was a wonderful way to spend the evening, and I hope we can do it again soon. (As long as someone is around to supervise my husband's fire-building attempts, that is.)
